Ed Webber Brings Newman Wine and Spirits to Conshohocken

Jonathan Newman Founded Newman Wine & Spirits in 2007. Previously he was Chairman of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (“PLCB”), one of the largest buyers of wine and spirits in the United States. The PLCB operates more than 600 stores and manages over 4,200 employees state-wide. During his tenure at the PLCB, Jonathan launched numerous initiatives that created a more wine-friendly environment in Pennsylvania. These included the creation of the Chairman’s Selection program, to offer high-quality wine at amazing prices. All of the wines offered under this program were hand-picked by Jonathan subject to strict quality standards. In 2006, the Chairman’s Selection program generated over $40 million in retail sales, up from $6 million in 2004, its first full year of operation.
